Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and is a great holiday to promote your cake business. However, before you jump in, just take a moment to consider if this holiday will benefit your cake business or cause you added stress.
A few questions to ask yourself:
Do you have time to plan a mini Valentine’s Day campaign?
Do you have time to action the promotion strategy?
Do you have time to create and decorate the cakes?
Does promoting cakes for this holiday excite you?
If you have answered a BIG fat yes to all the questions, then read on. I have put together 5 super marketing ideas to help you make the most of the day of love.
Utilise the power of social media
Create a special Valentine’s Day competition giving away one of your cakes or a gift voucher or something lovely. Use the hashtags #ValentinesDay2017 and #competition to give it a real boost.
Create an exclusive Valentine’s range
The key here is to keep it simple. Create a small range cakes or boxes of cupcakes ideal for two to share. Plan two or three designs then mass produce. Get people to pre order for delivery or collection on 14th February.
Offer free delivery
If you have a car and fancy taking a drive around your local area. Create a special free delivery offer for anyone ordering cakes for Valentine’s Day. Remember to decide on a radius for your free delivery area.
Give a special discount
Give customers who order on a Valentine’s Day an exclusive 5% or 10% discount on cakes ordered for that day. Don’t forget to include T’s&C’s.
Send a Valentine’s Day newsletter
Email your mailing list with a generic ‘Love is in the air’ newsletter. Advertising your special Valentine’s Day cakes or promotions.
Contact your VIP customers
Send your VIP customers a text or email promoting an exclusive Valentine’s Day offer just for them.
Share the love
Take to the streets and hand out bite size cake treats with your business card/flyers to passersby and share the love. You could always attached a discount voucher for your Valentine’s Day cakes too. But please check with your local council first.
