You may or not know but I am a guest author for the fabulous Clandestine Cake Club (it’s a secret cake club!) and I write monthly business blogs. If you have never heard of the club then I urge you to go and check out their website.

The series I write is all about how to start a cake business from home and over the last few months we have covered:

This Month

This month it is all about business planning and I wanted to share it with you on this blog as I am so PASSIONATE about business plans! Yes, sad, I know! But without a business plan you are in danger of your cake business just floundering and floating along. Maybe evening failing! Not because of lack of skills but from opportunity and idea overload and trying your hand at everything for far to long. Business plans will help put a stop to that. They help you create a clear strategy and will help you take your business forward one step at a time (my favourite saying!).

In the post I guide through how you can create your own simple business plan that you will actually use. It is designed to help you on a day by day, monthly and yearly basis. It is not a comprehensive plan and is not the type of business plan to use for securing investment or funding. But it is a hard hitting targeted plan that will help you grow your home cake business now.

Key headings for creating your plan:

  • Vision
  • Mission
  • Target Customer
  • Business Goal/s and Tasks
  • Numbers (projected sales and expenses)
  • Future Opportunities and Ideas

The Clandestine Cake Club blog post  explains in much more detail how to create the plan and gives examples against each heading. I really hope it inspires you to write your own plan if you haven’t already done so and if you have written one, I hope you gain nuggets of advice and inspiration from reading through this example.

Happy baking!
